Okech Obur holds a certificate and a double diploma in wildlife management and tourism. He further attended several defensive driving, first aid, and wildlife, tour-guiding courses and is currently one of the best tour guides in eastern Africa.
Okech joined the safari world about a decade ago during the construction of Semliki Safari Lodge. After gaining hospitality experience for six months, Okech became the assistant manager and later general manager for Semliki Safari Lodge, a position he held for 2 years. He was the only Ugandan Assistant Project Director who worked and participated with the Semliki Chimpanzee Project sponsored by Indiana University (USA) and researched chimpanzee behaviour for a year. In addition, he received practical training from a Zimbabwean professional hunter and trainer and worked as boat captain on the southern tip of Lake Albert guiding tourists, sport fishing, and birding. Okech is a successful wildlife spotter and is currently working on improving his Italian language skills to enhance his credentials.
With his vast knowledge and experience in African tourism, Okech started Around Africa Safaris to share his knowledge and appreciation of nature with everyone.
Jesca holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Bugema University as well as the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education. Prior to working for Around Africa Safaris, she was employed by the Kampala Serena Hotel in the accounting department, with a responsibility for purchasing, cost accounting and internal auditing. In addition to her financial expertise, Jesca has a strong interest in travel and tourism and enjoys contributing her knowledge as a financial expert at Around Africa Safaris.
Yvonne has joined our team 2 years ago as Business Development Manager. As a German native having lived and worked in Uganda for the last 6 years. She brings her wealth of experience to help our business grow. With this new addition, our dream is to make AAS the most efficient team for safaris in Eastern Africa!
She holds a Diploma in Tourism Geography, Economics and Psychology of University Trier, Germany. She lived and worked in communities in Ruboni, Ruwenzori Mountains, Bigodi Wetlands, Kibale Nationalpark and Bushara Island, Lake Bunyonyi in order to research for her thesis and published a book out of it with the title “Community-based Tourism als Form des nachhaltigen Tourismus in Uganda”. Through 5 years experience in the tourism industry of Uganda as General Manager of 2 hotels and Director of Sales of a German Tour Company she is very familiar with Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya. Her dream is to bring the beautiful and colorful but authentic side of Africa close to clients from all over the world.
