Why an African Safari Should Be on Your Bucket List

If you haven’t yet added an African safari to your bucket list, you should consider doing so now. A safari gives you the chance to take part in amazing adventures and to get up close and personal with the wildlife and culture of Africa. While you have probably seen pictures and documentaries on TV, there is something completely different about experiencing a safari in person. Experience the Nature Africa has a completely different nature scene that you’ll have to explore for yourself. There is no other place on earth where you can see a wide variety of wild animals that are roaming in their natural habitat. If you visit a zoo close to home you’ll see animals but they are not living in their natural environments. They are being treated more as pets and have become somewhat domesticated. There is no comparison between visiting a gorilla, a lion or a zebra in a zoo versus out on the open range in Africa. You’ll be able to put your feet down on deserts and grasslands that are even more beautiful than they appear in postcards. You’ll see birds that you’ve never seen before and trees that deserve more than one snapshot. You can visit the sea and enjoy the crisp, clear ocean air as you enjoy exciting water sports or simply relax on the beach to take in the sun. Experience the Culture Tourism in Africa continues to grow as more and more people discover the incredible cultures that are needed to this continent. You’ll discover a variety of cultures with diverse and rich histories that differ from one region to the next. You’ll be able to meet lifelong friends and the chances are good that you’ll want to go back to meet up with them again and to see more of the culture that dates back centuries. Taking an African safari needs to be on your bucket list. Find out more about the different types of safaris available and why they are a cost-effective option for your next holiday by visiting aroundafricasafari.com. 5 Animals You Can See On an African Safari Adventure

For many travelers, a trip to Africa is all about the safaris. Here you can see a wide range of different animals that you would never be able to see at home. African animals are often majestic and awe-inspiring and visiting a safari at least once in a lifetime should be on everyone’s bucket list. Here are just 5 of the animals you can see on an African safari that will leave you gasping in amazement. Gorillas Get an up-close-and-personal view of a gorilla in its natural habitat. With only 800 mountain gorillas living in the world today, you’ll appreciate their splendor and magnificence when you lay your eyes on them. Be sure to book ahead for gorilla trekking since the gorilla parks only allow a specific number of people to enter per day. Hippos African hippos are also declining in numbers yet they play an important part in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. View them on a safari and marvel as they peer out from the waterways and murky ponds or as they proudly trod over the ground. You’ll be surprised to hear just how loud they are when they roar and you’ll want to take a variety of pictures to show friends and family members when you return home. Rhinos Get an up-close view of African white and black rhinos on a safari. Thanks to anti-poaching efforts and vigorous conservation as well as international bans on rhino horn trading, these animals have been brought back from the brink of extinction and are absolutely wonderful to behold. Wildebeest Migration This should be considered as the best show on earth and the best time to view it is in July or early August and at the end of November – depending on the rainfall patterns. This is a famous spectacle where you’ll see thousands upon thousands of wildebeest animals running across the plains. During the other times of the year, it’s also a fantastic place to visit since there is always general game to be found roaming in the area. Birds Although you may not be heading out to see birds specifically, they will most definitely capture your heart and...

Spotlight on Mountain Gorillas

Mountain gorillas are muscular with large chests, wide feet and hands and black, thick hair that keeps them warm. They are the largest living primates on earth today and live in a social group of up to 40 with the leader, a silverback. This silverback is the protector of the group and he will sacrifice his life to protect the rest of the pack from other gorillas, leopards or humans. They are an amazing sight to behold and everyone on this planet should take the opportunity to see these gorillas at least once in their lifetimes. Mountain gorillas are an endangered species. They are also threatened by ongoing forest destruction when the land is needed for housing, fuel or farmland. Thankfully, there is a dedicated group that is putting all of their efforts towards protecting these amazing animals so the species can continue for many years to come. There are less than 1,000 mountain gorillas alive today and approximately half of them can be found in Uganda. The Mgahinga National Parks and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest host gorilla safaris in areas where the animal is surrounded by his natural habitat and can remain unharmed. These safaris permit you to not only see the gorillas up-close and personal but also discover more about their risk of extinction. Losing these animals completely would be devastating and the more people that know about the threat, the more that can be done about it. The other half of the mountain gorilla population lives in Rwanda and in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Males can weigh up to 400 pounds while females can reach a maximum weight of approximately 215 pounds. The males proudly stand up to 6 feet tall while the females can reach a height of 5 feet. Their lifespan ranges from 40 to 50 years, they are herbivorous and they have a gestation period that lasts about 8.5 months. When you view these amazing gorillas on a safari you’ll be amazed to see the social and gentle personalities of the adults and the fun-loving spirit of the children. It’s a heartwarming experience to view these mountain gorillas and it’s something that...
